Municipality and roadway connectivity

Bedekovčina municipality is located in the north-west part of Croatia, in the region with the best-developed roadway connections. About 40 km from the Capital, 30 km from the Republic of Slovenia, and it has a short distance to Hungary, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Besides the nearness of the major national road route, the D1 national route, the Varaždin-Zagreb railroad passes through the town, as well as the Popovec-Marija Bistrica-Zabok road which contributes to the municipality’s geographical and economic development and to connectivity with international routes.

The clay site in the municipality’s area brought about its industrial growth. There, clay products are being manufactured, such as roofing tiles and masonry heaters.

From the list of the natural sights a complex of 5 lakes called Bajeri stands out where recreational tourism is being developed (fishing, triathlon)

According to the 2011 census, on the territory of the Bedekovčina municipality, there are 8041 inhabitants. The population of Bedekovčina represents 6,06% of the population of Krapina-Zagorje County which has 132892 inhabitants. Apart from elementary school, here is also a high school with three faculties: medical, building construction, and agricultural school with polygons for practical lessons and newly built sports hall.
